He makes me laugh every time! So I started out this card by stamping the turkey image on Copic friendly card stock and coloring him in brown tones. The neat thing is the set comes with a matching die to cut out the turkey. After doing that, I fussy cut the pilgrim hat leaving a matching white border so it looked cohesive.
Next I moved onto the background. I die cut a piece of Canson watercolor paper with a stitched border die and then got to work using my watercolor palette. I wanted to stick with the yellows and oranges of fall. So my turkey wouldn't look like he was floating in space, I wrapped some natural twine around my watercolor panel and secured it to the back. That way my turkey had something to help ground him to the scene.
The watercolor panel seemed to fade into the khaki card base so I grabbed some dark orange card stock from my stash and blended brown distress ink around the edges. This allowed the panel to stand out more. I then adhered the turkey and used some foam dimensionals to pop up the hat. I couldn't resist sprinkling on a few sequins and adding glossy accents to his glasses and buckle on his hat. Here's a close up of the details:
The card came together pretty easy and perfectly fit the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge this week. They asked for entries to not use any designer paper and they are showcasing Taylored Expression products. Match made in heaven! Be sure to head over to their blog to check out the other fantastic entries. Have a wonderful weekend and I'll be back on Monday with another post!
